About
Hello, I’m Manny Rincon-Cruz. I’m an academic historian and venture-backed founder living in Taipei but frequently in San Francisco.
I created Prior Knowledge to host my writing about AI and history, including the state of the AI research frontiers, the transition to a post-AGI world, and policy possibilities. You can visit my personal site, thinking.farm, to find my other research, essays, journalism, and media.
I am a Ken Griffin Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. I have worked at two venture-backed startups, a macroeconomic advisory firm, and the Boston Consulting Group. Before that I received an AB studying diagrammatic logic at Harvard, where I also received an AM and won the Joseph Fletcher Prize. Later I was a PhD student at Stanford. My specialties are computational history and mechanism design.
Lastly, I am also the co-founder of FourWinds Research, an advisory partnership offering historical perspectives on the future of technology, and I design software protocols for Buttonwood.
